THE FORMULA

This reef-safe sunscreen is available in a compostable stick or a low-waste pouch. Made with non-nano zinc and glides onto skin without feeling greasy or irritating. Blends with a variety of skin tones to blur imperfections and provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection with 80 minutes of water resistance.

How to use

Apply to any body part that's exposed to the sun, rubbing it in to help the sunscreen blend in with your skin tone. The more you apply, the more protection you’ll have.

A prohibitive price point and narrow skin suitability

I could swear I have leather skin the way I have been able to use almost any kind of skin care and have great results, but the immediacy with which I saw millia-like occlusions in my skin after using the full system? It didn’t matter which combination, after three full system cycles I had bumpy skin. The feeling wasn’t nice, either; my face felt greasy rather than dewey. I will say that my skin rebounded after I returned to my normal routine, and there was no lasting damage, but it's really a disappointment to have spent $50 on a tiny travel set with a company that would have been awesome regarding sustainable packaging, only to find the products themselves limited to what I must assume is a narrow spectrum of skin types.

So sorry to hear the samples were not a good fit for your skin. We appreciate you trying Activist!

Perfect Sample Size

Both the "light" and "2" went on very smoothly and felt moisturizing on my skin. I got a single application out of each to see how it looked on my whole face, then I got enough out of each to try mixing them to get a better match. I think setting powder is going to be pretty helpful with this one, when I sweated, I noticed it moved into my laugh lines a little bit without powder. I did get sun exposure over the three days I wore it, no noticeable tan, burn, or extra freckling appeared, so I think it is effective SPF coverage. It does have a slight cinnamon scent to it, I think it is stronger in the darker color. That took some getting used to, but I have an extremely sensitive nose and only wear unscented personal care items. It might not be noticeable to anyone else. Will be buying full sized sticks when my current foundation runs out.

Sensitive skin

I found this company because I wanted sunscreen for my face. Overall I have sensitivities with topical things, especially my face, and some odors (this smells amazing to me, and no irritation). I’ve had zero issues with this product and I’m not a black and white person. Leaving this review for people like me and I want to support this company. And their recyclable products!!!
